Man made bridge........... Natures bridge......................
Man made skyscrapers....................
Natures Skyscrapers - a hidden city. The stars at night are so bright and easily seen from lack of light pollution, that I compare it to the city lights lighting the night sky with their beauty.
Unlike many women who live in towns and cities I live in a remote area of the Canyonlands. I have tea with the lizards and chipmunks; while it is the wind who whispers in my ears and carries my voice along with it, as I share my opinions of life. Unlike many women who have a nice pair of shoes to show off an outfit, and wear silk underwear, me, I have a pair of black worn out shoes and hiking boots, anything else would be ruined in a day anyway from the dirt I tromp in when I'm walking along the paths which lead me to many adventures.
I do miss my friends when I'm here, I miss hearing their voices, and hearing the laughter from jokes, and the tears of happiness or sadness when they share the cares of everyday life.
Each place has something friendly to offer however. My friends here are the tree's, the rocks in their many formations, the many different species of flowers, the ants I watch as they busily move fallen berries from the bushes to their hideouts. My friends are the birds who's songs sooth my soul, as I lift my eyes to the beauty in the sky. The writings on the rock walls show me history as I imagine the stories, and place myself in those days of old with the children at play in this place of wonder.
When I hear the names of different places in the Park, my mind goes wild with imagination. When I visit the soda springs, I imagine the spring shooting fizzling cherry flavored soda into the air, then fill my cupped hands to the brim, to quench my thirst from the heat.
It's not always easy living here in the Canyonlands, and I tip my hat to my two wonderful children who live here too, and my husband who works here. I hope that there will come a day when my children are grown, they look back and say, "Hey I lived there and it was awesome."
