It was early in the morning, oh, about 2:00 A.M. I'd say. I crawled out of bed, the floor felt chilly as my feet touched the hardwood. Walking passed my french doors I could see through the curtains that the moon was a waxing gibbous, I love watching the moon and recognizing the magic of each stage she brings to our lives.
My throat was dry and the cough I'd had was really annoying me. I walked softly not to wake anyone, especially my brother who was staying with us for a few days, to the darkness of the kitchen. Only the moon lit my way. I turned the water on and felt the gentle stream until the water was cool enough to fill my A&W mug with. The cool water soothed my throat and quenched my dry mouth as I turned my gaze into the living room where it appeared that someone was sitting in the chair.
"Can't you sleep Brian?" I asked. "Are you okay?" No one answered. Being a little concerned that I had gotten no reply I turned the kitchen light on where the image I had been talking to revealed itself. You can only imagine my surprise when I saw the lamp my husband made me, in its place, and one of the chairs placed just right - an illusion of the lamp sitting in it.
I had to laugh as I thought to myself, "Now I know how Mr. Magoo sees things. I giggled as I turned the light off and walked back to my bed. I jumped into bed tucking my feet in, to warm them from the coolness of the hardwood floor, falling into slumber and pleasant dreams.
